Wizard of Oz Costume Party

For my mother's 49th birthday party she decided to have a Wizard of Oz costume party. She is obsessed with the movie so it was fitting. Here are some good pictures of the event.

Is that homeless guy wearing my coat?

Last week I went to San Francisco for work and Esther kept bugging my to bring a jacket because it would most likely rain. So I brought my white rain coat I've had since I was in high school. On the plane I realized that my "white" coat was so dirt it was an off white or brown color. I constantly wash it but it got to a point were the jacket was so old it could be helped. So I walked over to The North Face about a block away from my hotel and but a simple black rain jacket and while walking back to my hotel I gave me coat to a homeless. He seemed pleased but kind of looked at my new jacket like I should give him that one.

What did I learn from this?
1. Don't buy a white jacket
2. If you still have something you bought in high school as you approach your ten year reunion buy a new one

Diet Coke Attack

Everyone that knows me knows I have an addiction to Diet Coke. Well I usually try to take the last Diet Coke of a six pack so that I can coke the plastic into little pieces so fish and other animals don't get stuck in it. Like that Penguin on Surf's Up. I had a teacher in first grade that told us animals die if you don't cut them up so apparently it stuck :)

All that to say today I was carrying my diet coke to my desk but I was holding it by the plastic so that I wasn't actually holding the can. I stopped by the lovely Esther and somehow ended up flinging my diet coke at her. This is the dent her ankle made in my now fizzy diet coke.

Ear Surgery

I haven't been posting lately because of two major factors: Ear Surgery and the Christmas Play. Those two things consumed my life for about two weeks.

Those of you who know me know that I have a lot of ear problems well hopefully I just fixed one ear. I had a hole in my ear drum and I went in to have it repaired a week ago. They grafted muscle from my scalp see below:

(yes those are four or five stiches, I love stiches!)

So now I've been walking around for a week deaf in one ear because I have it packed with bloody sick stuff so that the grafted skin has time to heal over the hole. I get the packing out tomorrow and I couldn't be happier.

Just thought I'd share this fun adventure with you :) There were a lot of pain killers, vomiting, bleeding out the ear and sleeping involved in the recovery. There is something disturbing about blood coming out your ear. That is just a place blood doesn't belong...

Anyways I'm fine now and just waiting to get this crap out of my ear so I can hear again...

The NeverEnding Story

Today my bus driver look exactly like the book store owner in The NeverEnding Story. You know the one who gave Batian the actual book! He looked EXACTLY like him it tripped me out, I think I actually made sure I was stepping into a bus and not onto Falkor you know that cool white dragon thing.

It Is Noon Somewhere

I ride the bus to and from work everyday. Some days are normal and other can get very interesting. But I love riding the bus you can listen to your Ipod and not have to worry about the road. Everyone that knows me knows that I'm a carpooling freak!

Anyways this morning was one of those interesting mornings. I get on at the Park and Ride in Kenmore and we stop at the first stop to pick a few people up. This particular stop is right in from of a Pub and Taco Time. I noticed this lady right away who was sitting down kind of far away from the actual bus stop. When we stopped she got up and started to walk towards the bus, now the angle I had wasn't good so I didn't actually see her walking. When she was trying to get on the bus I assumed she was very old because it seemed to be taking her a long time to get up the three steps. The bus steps are large so elderly people sometimes have a hard time getting up them. I see her set her backpack on the top step and she is kind of wobbling back and forth. My first thought was she isn't that old maybe 55 I guess she must be handicapped. She is now just standing there on the bus at this point on the second step and the bus driver is telling her to get off the bus. At this point I've turned off my Ipod of course to listen in. I hear the bus driver say "you are to drunk to ride the bus, get off!" Now this is on the way to work so we are talking 7:30AM. The lady keeps saying after a long pause "no I'm not" as she clings to the hand rail. I'm thinking what if this bus driver is wrong and she actually has something wrong with her. Then I hear him say "you are so drunk I can smell it from here." Well now I'm out of excuses and I just want her off the bus so I can get to work. She finally stops fighting it and when I say fighting I mean saying "no I'm not" over and over again.

Finally she gets off the bus and we are on our way. I'm think first off if she is drunk at least she isn't driving why can't she ride the bus you would think that would be a wise decision. Then my second thought is if you are still drunk at 7:30AM you must have been power drinking for along time to not have sobered up by then...got to love the bus.
